Our story
Preface
More than 10 years ago Simas, the founder of Don Simon restaurant, while discussing the intricacies of the catering business with his friend, heard a golden phrase from him – “the first 10 years are the hardest…
Although at first it seemed strange to see Japanese and Italian cuisines under one roof, and the name Don Simon evoked associations with Spain (in fact, the “Dons” lived in Sicily), today we are glad that these challenges are in the past, as the Don Simon family restaurant has been deliciously feeding the townspeople for 12 years!
Over the years, Simas has met many of his restaurant guests, whom he greets, chats with, sometimes pours out his heart, and more often exchanges good news.
Don Simon has undergone several transformations:
The restaurant’s location has changed
2. The name has changed (the Sushi Stop and Don Simon brands have merged)
3. A completely renovated outdoor terrace allows you to enjoy gastronomy all year round in a glassed-in winter garden, where coziness and a homely atmosphere meet.
“We give our whole heart and we care that you eat deliciously and valuablely,” says the restaurant’s founder himself. “Our morning often begins with a trip to the shops and the food market, when we carefully select every avocado, tomato, herb or seasonal berry with our own hands.”
Drawing inspiration from famous US music artists who sacrifice their free time to create a masterpiece song, and traveling the world, Simas brings new ideas that he applies to create new flavors. This work has become not only a business, but also his life’s passion.
“We are not Italians, but by combining the delicacies of the Italian land and Lithuanian diligence, we invite you on a gastronomic journey with an updated wine list from different Italian regions, to taste an American beer or an Italian plum-almond liqueur that will not leave anyone indifferent.
“We ate hearty and felt light!” This is a frequent feedback from our guests, which is our greatest motivation to create and improve.
TOP 5 recommendations that our guests appreciated and liked:
- Although the Marseille fish stew in Italian cuisine is exactly like in the French city of Marseille, thick with lots of seafood, the harmony of flavors was created over more than one year.
- Spicy Mexican pizza. An extremely hearty pizza for onion fans, generously topped with chopped beef ham, seasoned with fresh onions, pickled onions and fresh jalapenos.
Richly flavored spicy Ramen is a Japanese noodle soup dish with pork cutlet. - Lasagna is made according to an authentic Florentine recipe. (As one guest put it, “It’s tastier at Lidl” :D)
- Marinated tuna tartare, according to a Japanese chef’s recipe, served with ripe avocado and mango.
- Not everyone will like it, so we leave it to your judgment to the Don Simon restaurant, which is always very welcoming and, by the way, is animal-friendly.
